Whichever way Scotland votes on September 18th, there will be massive repercussions for the country. Glasgow Skeptics presents a panel discussion to ask what comes next. Chaired by journalist and broadcaster, David Torrance. Featuring: Lesley Riddoch Lesley is an award winning journalist, commentator and broadcaster who writes regularly for the Scotsman, the Sunday Post and Guardian, amongst others. She is Managing Director of Feisty Productions, co-founder of the Nordic Horizons think tank, and author of “Blossom: What Scotland Needs to Flourish”. Alex Massie Alex is a journalist and commentator based in Edinburgh, writing regularly for the Times, and the Spectator. His Spectator blog was shortlisted for the Orwell Prize 2012. A libertarian, he was previously Assistant Editor of Scotland on Sunday. Stephen Paton Stephen is the creator of the #IndyRef Weekly Review, a YouTube video series that focuses on independence-related news each week in the run up to the referendum, as well as examining Scotland's relationship with Westminster. Duncan Hothersall Duncan is a Scottish Labour activist and LGBT rights campaigner. He was founding chair of Pride Scotland, and a founding director of the Equality Network. Nowadays he helps run Scottish Fabians, and is involved in lots of other Labour Party related things. He's on Twitter as @dhothersall. Accessibility: As per the policy of the Admiral Bar, access to the venue “can only be provided to patrons who are sufficiently mobile and capable of independently evacuating premises, or with the minimum of assistance.” Unfortunately, this leaves the basement inaccessible to most wheelchair users. 802 Tom Nairn book launch: "Old Nations, Auld Enemies, New Times" with Tom Nairn (author), Tariq Ali (political commentator), Isobel Lindsay (CND), Anthony Barnett (openDemocracy)

"Old Nations, Auld Enemies, New Times" is a new collection of essays by Tom Nairn, which will be launched on Monday 15 September at 6:30pm at Martin Hall, New College, Edinburgh. For the last fifty years Nairn has been one of Britain’s most consistently provocative and influential voices. Old Nations, Auld Enemies, New Times brings together, for the first time, the full span of his work, from his ground-breaking analysis of the British state in the 1960s and ‘70s to his more recent examinations of globalisation, the English question and the independence referendum. I hope you can join us for what promises to be one of the most exciting literary and media events of the referendum debate so far. The debate will be chaired by editors Jamie Maxwell and Pete Ramand.

The Westminster establishment are in the throws of a huge crisis as the people of Scotland look towards a Yes vote as an alternative to the austerity consensus. After decades of neoliberalism, privatisation and war, September the 18th offers us a platform to build an alternative. This is an opportunity not just for the people of Scotland, but for the movement across the rest of the UK. This meeting will present solidarity from activists involved with the left wing Red Pepper magazine in our campaign for a radical Yes, and a Peoples Scotland. Speakers Jane Shallice: Politically active since the 60’s when protesting Vietnam. Since then has been involved in trade union organising and anti-imperialist action with Stop the War Coalition. With theatre experience, Jane has a creative approach to politics and has long been a contributor to Red Pepper magazine. Ewa Jasiewicz: Campaigner and writer. Heavily involved in the fight against fracking and in the news recently for occupying the roof of a UK based Israeli arms factory. Also involved in anti-capitalist campaigns, Fuel Poverty Action, No Dash for Gas and has worked as a union organiser for Unite. http://www.theguardian.com/profile/ewajasiewicz Jennifer Nelson: From Merseyside, now living in London to work full time for Red Pepper magazine. Has experience of various political campaigns, charity work and independent media projects. John Davidson: An independence and trade union organiser in the PCS and a member of trade unions for Yes. As you may well know the new bridge over The Forth is being opened to pedestrians for two days, Saturday 2nd September and Sunday 3rd September. Many of the people who have paid for this new bridge have not been allocated a place, so the plan is. Glasgow Remembers the Spanish Civil War A memorial day to remember the stand against fascism that Scots took in Spain.

On September 9th, Glasgow Anti-Fascist Action will be hosting an event to remember the Anti-Fascist volunteer fighters who came from Spain and all around the world (Including many from Glasgow) to fight General Franco and his Fascist army who made an attempt to overthrow a Socialist and anti-monarchist government that was democratically elected by the people of Spain. We want to remember the Anti-Fascist volunteer fighters that fought and died for freedom, democracy and equality in Spain and the people's armies of the CNT-FAI, The International Brigade etc. that fought against the tyranny of Fascism and for a better world without Capitalism and class-society. We also want to use this event as a reminder that the Fascist groups of today like the late National Action, The Scottish Defence League and Britain First will not be tolerated in today's society and will be smashed by any means necessary and to remind Fascist and Racist demagogues like Donald Trump, Le Pen and Ramzan Kadyrov will always be met with militant opposition from the people and that the war against Capitalism continues. The event will be initially held at George Square and then we will march to the La Pasionara monument with speeches from our invited speakers and then a ceremony with an ending rendition of the Internationale by all involved at the event to remember the fallen heroes and comrades that gave their life for a better world. Remember to share this event around and invite all the folk you know and get the number of attendees up. We want to show the world that Glasgow remembers the fallen of the Spanish Civil-War and we that we remember the ultimate sacrifice they made to defend the working-class and democracy. Thank you and ¡No pasarán! comrades! ✊️

Scottish Independence Convention Presents The Reassembly Elaine C Smith will be hosting the many guests from across the country and the movement... and we will then be able to get down to some serious discussion about the way ahead...

Exactly two years on from the referendum, The Scottish Independence Convention are having a social event for all interested Indy groups to launch the next phase... to bring us all together, encourage dialogue, listen to some speeches, poetry, comedy and enjoy some music. We need all that energy, artistic endeavour, hard work and good old political discussion to get started again ( though it has never really gone away) and we need to establish a gathering place for all the groups, individuals, artists and ideas that made the Yes movement so vital in the journey towards self determination and Independence. Elaine C Smith will be hosting the many guests from across the country and the movement... and we will then be able to get down to some serious discussion about the way ahead.

The YES Movement A non party afiliated rally for Scottish Independence

The Yes Movement Rally on the 18th of September 2016, this is being held at Glasgow Green from 12pm until 8pm. This is going to be a day to remember. Why come? Why Volunteer? I would like to tell thee. Have any of you ever felt like you were here, to do something great with your life? Well you are and this is why we are all here. We are here to change the world. It is no easy task, but to us it is clear that the task is ours. That is why they called us the Bravest in all the stories. We will show the world there is another way to live, that social and cultural change is inevitable and that a new way of doing things is being birthed. A great human being once said 'Be the change you wish to see in the world'. For too long we have been realising that the entire system is corrupt. We have waited for those in power to change things, For someone to stand up and do what's right. None of them have, not really. We are creating this Movement together. As Humanity we can free ourselves from this system that none of us agreed to when we were born here, by taking our power back and in doing that, we show others how to free themselves from the Elitist system. To put it bluntly, the days of working to pay bills and die are over. We want more for ourselves and the generations to come. We stand for Equality, Contributing and Pioneering our own future. There are new way's to do things now and we all know that, we must venture into the unknown and discover 'HOW?' together. Please email [email protected] Your expertise as a wonderful human being is required if you are a First Aider, Stage Hand, Steward, Chaperone or you would like to set up a stall for the day. Please also feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions/ ideas, or if you would like to help us in anyway. All contributions are most welcomed. The system we live under is broken, we're not fixing it. We want to create a new one. Go bravely friends. We are the change bringers. Please Share this message, We look forward to hearing from you.

Hope Over Fear are organizing this 2015 event to coincide with the anniversary of the referendum and to make a clear statement that our journey to full Independence for our nation continues. Our First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has stated clearly that it will be the people of Scotland who will determine if and when there is an #indyref2. Lets fill Freedom Square and the surrounding streets of Glasgow on September 19th to make our voices heard. 2018 is an ideal year for #indyref2 as it is clear in terms of elections north and south of the border. (2016 Scottish parliament, 2017 Scottish council, 2019 English council and 2020 General election.) Join us on the Square with the message, #Indyref2 2018.

HOPE OVER FEAR: SEIZE THE DAY RALLY George Square, Glasgow. Lots of great speakers including Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver plus great music...

The Hope Over Fear campaign will not shirk its responsibilities. On May 7th 2015 we have a unique opportunity in Scotland to wipe out the blue, yellow and red Tories in one fell swoop. We can electorally punish those who lined up with the billionaires and millionaires to lie, deceive and bully our nation into submission. We are not too small, too poor or too scared to move forward into a new and better world and by uniting the pro-Scotland and anti-Establishment vote in May 2015 we can realise our dreams. Bring the family and enjoy another great day out while listening to the speakers from all political backgrounds and on the importance of using your vote wisely at the general election. There will also be many amazingly talented artists and musicians for you to enjoy on the day. In the words of Gerry Cinnamon's inspiring anthem of our movement, "Hope Over Fear, Carpe Diem". Let’s seize the day in 2015. NOTE: Mark McGowan, The Artist Taxi Driver will be one of the speakers :) FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/401561463337441/

Red Road Flats Demolition RED ALERT DANGER DANGER Covering the controversial demolition of the Red Road Flats

ALSO here for protesters live stream within the danger zone http://livestre.am/5dlJI Highly contentious issue with many locals against the blowing up of these 6 flats at once and want them brought down floor by floor. The flats could still contain asbestos; they are very close to residential areas including a nursery and there is worry about water and gas pipes being burst. See WikiPedia link for more info and criticism of previous Red Row flats that have been blown up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Road_Flats

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 Around 1:30 - 3:30pm BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice!

BBC Bias Peaceful Protest #2 - The People's Voice! Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm - 3:30pm BBC Scotland Studios, Pacific Quay G51 1 Glasgow, United Kingdom This is a protest against bias from the self-proclaimed “impartial” BBC. The most important issue we need to highlight is the repeated omission of relevant facts, information & answers that has kept Scotland in the dark about the real independence debate. The BBC’s coverage is ruining the run up to the biggest decision in our history. People are suitably sickened by the BBC & other mainstream media and their one sided conveyor belt of scare stories portrayed against our economic prospects, EU membership and the currency of an independent Scotland. Sometimes the bias is not in what they do cover but what they don't cover in their news & current affairs programmes. Specific examples of bias that concerns us are as follows: Make up of Question Time panels. Irish & Luxembourg EU ministers views misrepresented. UKIP promotion during EU elections. University of the West of Scotland report on bias on evening news programmes (BBC & STV) University of the West of Scotland report on bias on Radio Scotland Good Morning Scotland show The BBC's membership of the CBI which opposes independence and even tried to become an official member of the no campaign until a U turn after a mass cancellation of membership by Scottish companies. Different styles of questioning for Yes/No including more frequent interruptions from interviewers. The list goes on… Let's keep up the pressure on the old BBC and arrange their next outing as a massive anti-bias operation! Bring your saltires, banners, balloons, friends, family and loud voices. Make it a day to remember! Everyone is welcome from both sides of the debate. Groups that wish to protest about other instances of BBC bias unrelated to the independence debate are also more than welcome to attend.
