429What now - with Tommy Sheppard

So what happens now? After the EU referendum the political landscape has been turned on it's head for us here in Scotland. Over the last week the likelihood of #indyref2 has increased greatly if we are to remain within the EU at all. This is not a time to be a *45 any more, this is the opportunity to make the case for independence and reach those that have either changed their mind to Yes or have doubts and questions we can answer better than in 2014. Yes Edinburgh Southern are having a get together on the 29th of July at the Yes Cafe in Liberton. We will have a social evening to catch up, chat, digest goings on, share opinions and ideas on what to do next.

In April 2016, a witness bearing delegation from Scotland visited the infamous 'jungle' camp in Calais. The delegation formed part of a sustained series of high profile visits which has enabled the situation in Calais to become a matter of public concern after years of obscurity. Those who formed part of the recent delegation included SNP MPs from the Justice and Home Affairs Select Committee, academics, clinicians, campaigners and those who have long experience in working with refugees in Scotland. Please join members of the delegation share some what they witnessed during their four days at the camps and also reflect on the potential impacts there of the recent EU referendum result . "At times of chronic humanitarian crisis, an active approach is that of bearing witness. Bearing witness is uncomfortable and provoking. There is a need for us not to flinch from the acute discomfort, even anger and helplessness, of being witnesses to what, wittingly or unwittingly, our policies and voting habits, foreign and domestic, have done" (Alison Phipps).

104After Brexit: Resist Racism & Austerity Come to this public meeting on building anti-racism rooted in anti-austerity politics...

Come to this public meeting on building anti-racism rooted in anti-austerity politics. Immigration is being blamed for the decline in living standards and for streched services and unemployment. We say that the blame should lie at the door of the Tory government. We say we need to fight together for homes, jobs and against racist scapegoating. We say that we need unity from below to challenge both racism and austerity. There will be speeches, followed by discussion, from: Smina Akhtar Jonathon Shafi Aamer Anwar Anum Qaiser Pinar Aksu The meeting will be chaired by Nighet Nasim Riaz LANGSIDE HALLS, SHAWLANDS, GLASGOW.
